What a Difference God Has Made!

It’s that time again. Summer has come to an end and fall is in the air. It seems as if it were just a few days ago we were watching the first buds of spring and already autumn’s activities are underway.

In spite of all the difficulties with the pandemic situation, we continue our mission work with God’s help and your continued prayer, love and support to reach people of former Soviet Union with the message of Hope.

During these last few months life has become unpredictable and uncertain. I believe it is impossible to defeat COVID-19 without faith in our one true God. The God who decides the destiny of nations and the forces of nature is in control, even in an out-of-control time like this.

The struggles have lasted longer than expected. COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, then reinstated…our missionaries are encouraged and moving ahead a bit one day…only to be restricted again days later.

Nevertheless, our teams continue their God-given mission whether it is to help with humanitarian assistance requests or spiritual needs. I am so proud of them as they “run with perseverance the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

Our faithful missionaries have been at this for months. Yet, they continued to reach out to already vulnerable people who suffer due to abuse, neglect, poverty, loneliness and age and are seeing those vulnerabilities magnified during this worldwide pandemic.

Now more than ever, serving others means following the example of Jesus. Our missionary pastors and their wives as well as other team members have engaged in selfless caring for others.

During these uncertain times, I pray we can all find our rest in the Lord and realize that the only place we are truly “safe” is in the arms of our Savior.

Be encouraged that God is at work in ways we could not imagine to accomplish His purposes and for our good. Let us all pray for the hurting and press on toward the goal Christ has called us to.

Reaching the Forgotten with Christ’s Love

It never ceases to amaze how God can take the most difficult, tragic circumstances in the lives of His people and bring eternal good out of them. It’s no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought much sorrow both here in North America, and in the former Soviet Union.

Yet when sorrowful events happen, God opens up wonderful opportunities for His people to demonstrate His love and proclaim His grace—pointing the way to salvation through the Lord Jesus.
We are thankful to the Lord for our VBS Summer of Hope outreach. We had hundreds of children participated in our VBS summer camp ministry across the lands of Russia and Ukraine.
Below is just one first-hand account from a recent camper.

Valya, 11 year old

My mom believes in God, so she asked me if I wanted to go to camp. Boring…everyone would be reading the Bible and praying all the time. In spite of what I was sure I knew about the “churchy camp”, I’m not sure why, but I said, “Yes.”Was I wrong! What a great time! Everyone I met was awesome. We made some wonderful memories and laughed a lot. We played games, sang songs, and worked on crafts. Even Bible study wasn’t boring. I had lots of opportunities to talk about the Lord. I was surprised that Jesus was born in a stable with animals, and that He loved poor and sick people. Knowing this about Him, I feel He is more real to me now…not just a picture in a book. It was sad when the camp days were over. Can’t wait to come back.

Praise the Lord for the hearts of the children, which are fertile soil where the seeds of God’s truth can grow. We are so grateful that God has brought us together to partner in the Great Commission.

Thanks to the faithfulness of God. And friends like you.
