Sharing God’s Love and Hope with Ukraine’s Children

A group of children and adults in a room hold up colorful books, smiling and posing for the camera; some are seated while others stand in winter clothing.

The room fell completely silent when the first Bible was placed into a child’s hands. For months, these families have lived with air‑raid sirens, cramped shelters, and the constant anxiety of not knowing what tomorrow will bring. That day, however, something different filled the air: anticipation. One by one, our missionaries passed out children’s Bibles—bright, beautiful reminders that God’s story is bigger than war, fear, or loss. Soon the quiet turned into joy as boys and girls clutched their new treasures to their hearts. Many had never owned a Bible before. Now they carry with them the story of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who walks with them through every dark valley and promises a hope that cannot be destroyed..

The van pulled into the village quietly, but word traveled fast. Children began to appear from every direction, bundled in worn coats and mismatched hats, their breath visible in the icy air. For them, a simple delivery day feels like a holiday. Our mission team opened the doors to reveal boxes of sweets and gifts—small tokens of love that had crossed borders and battle lines to reach this forgotten corner of Ukraine. As each box was lifted out, it carried more than presents and treats; it carried the message, “God sees you. His people remember you. You are not alone in this war.”

Instead of carrying fear and loss, they clutched Christmas gift bags given by our mission team through your support. In this simple room, their smiles and laughter said what words cannot: “We are seen, we are loved, we have hope.”

In a crowd of weary adults, one tiny girl clutched her Christmas gift with both hands, afraid to let it go. Her world has been shaped by sirens and shortages, yet in that moment she held something different—love wrapped in silver paper. Our mission team met her with a smile, a gentle touch, and the quiet message every child longs to hear: “You are precious. You are not forgotten. Jesus loves you.”

She had waited in line with the grown‑ups, quiet and patient, shivering in her worn winter coat. When her turn finally came, she walked away holding two priceless treasures—a children’s Bible and a small gift bag. In a village scarred by war, this little girl now carries the story of Jesus and a reminder that she is loved. Your support allowed our mission team to place hope directly into her hands, and into the hands of many others like her.

On a cold village street near, Ukrainians gathered around our van. Before a single package was given, our missionary asked to do something even more important—pray. With heads bowed and hands lifted, they entrusted their fears and their uncertain future into God’s hands. Then, one by one, they received food and gifts, tangible reminders of His care. In that open-air “church,” between broken houses and bare trees, the hope of the Gospel was proclaimed and the love of Jesus was felt in a very real way.
